TRADE SUITORS FOR CARIS LEVERT

Earlier today it was reported via Shams Charania of the Athletic that the Indiana Pacers are, finally, shopping around their stars in Caris Levert, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sobonis. First off we should be congratulating and celebrating Caris Levert still being able to play, having removed a small mass on his left kidney which I am sure is probably playing into effect of his slow rough start this year. But twenty seven year old Levert still has some value and many teams could use his potential scoring and shot creating abilities.

1. DALLAS MAVERICKS

As soon as any shot creating wing or guard becomes available they will most likely be linked to Dallas. The obvious thought of getting Luka some help when the ball is not in his hands and when he is on the bench. So for, Jalen Brunson has been their only consistent hope this season. Caris would provide some shot creating abilities and just slashing abilities. The shot is not the best but it still could be better than what Dallas has now. Levert and Porzingis PNR would work well as well obviously.

As for trade packages, Levert makes seventeen million dollars per year. With Leverts value and health risks, a package of Josh Green, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith and a first rounder could be enough. Picks have gotten more valuabe nowadays so that could be swapped for a second or another player. I'm just throwing out packages.

2. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

The Cavs I think would be a solid fit for Caris Levert. Aside from being a Columbus,Ohio native, I think he'd fit right in with this Cavs team. The Cavs this year on offense could desperately use another shot creator with some skill to create shots for themselves and others. Preferably a guy with some sort of size and Caris at 6'6 has that. The Cavs rank a bottom eleven offense and part of that is due to the lack in the wing department. Playing with former teammate Jarrett Allen as well could maybe spark some rejuvenation. The only thing I would question with Levert  to a Cavs potential deal is the injury risk that is Caris and how empty the Cavs are in the wing department. I'm sure many Ohio native and fans have thrown his name out there but without logic behind it. It all depends on what the Cavs GM wants to give up knowing what risks could come with it. But also looking at the potential bright side. This Cavs team specifically though do need better three point shooting and Levert does not really help that but he is better than what the Cavs have now.

As for packages, I am sure the Cavs would not already give up on sophomore Isaac Okoro for an injury risk in Caris Levert who is twenty seven. So I'd say Dylan Winlder, Lamar Stevens or contract filler,  and Dean Wade with a valuable Rockets second or a Cavs protected first but again I am sure the Cavs wouldn’t give up a pick just for Caris and a player filler like Brissett or something. But again, they could be a potential suitor.

3. BOSTON CELTICS
While the Celtics do have Dennis Shroder, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown who are all shot creators who need the ball in there hands, I would not be surprised if Boston targeted Levert. Levert off the bench is best in that sixth man role at the moment and could be great off the bench with the Celtics bench lacking a consistent scorer. The Celtics young guys in Langform, Nesmith, Pritchard, and veteran Josh Richardson have not been any type of scoring. Levert could provide that for Boston and make Dennis expendable, preferable for a pass first playmaker if I am Boston.

And as for packages, all the young guys in Boston at least to me are expendable. The Pacers could want Romeo back in the state of Indiana, Nesmith is a knockdown shooter, Pritchard is a solid backup score first guard. Add that with any slight contract filler and a pick maybe a deal could be done there.

4. TORONTO RAPTORS

The Raptors this year with adding Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent Jr have been playing some meaningful games sitting right outside that play in spot. When it comes to bench scoring the Raptors could use a guy like Caris Levert. Now this is very dicey since Levert makes 17M and the Raptors already have Vanvleet and Trent Jr  as their scoring guards. But outside of that there is no consistent guard play especially from the bench.

And depending on what the Raptors would want to give up maybe it could happen. Guys like Precious, Svi, Bonga, Flyn, and Boucher all seem expendable. Plus any picks the Raps would want to throw in.

5. DENVER NUGGETS

Now for things to work contractually a three teamer may have to happen for Caris to really end up in Denver but with all their injuries and them wanting to remain competent I think they could target Caris. Still having Jokic healthy him and Caris could play their typical two man game on and off each other until the team gets back any sorts of healthy. And while key guys remain out, Levert would get the reigns to get himself and confidence back. And of course playing with a guy like Jokic makes things a million times easier.

Caris Levert making seventeen million dollars this year with his injury risks does make things difficult. Looking at fans mock up trades the idea and name of Caris Levert seems to be better than the player Levert has been this season. On the season he was averaging fifteen points per game, around three assists per game, and three boards per game. Shooting 26% from three and 42% from the field in twenty seven minutes per game. Its clear he is still conditioning and recovering from his injury so as of right now his value is at his lowest. Its just his contract is the thing to mention obviously and also what the Pacers would want in return. Years back Caris was the big named mentioned in the James Harden trade and how Houston missed out on him. I hope Caris returns to 100% health and goes to a team rather starting or off the bench where he can flourish as a player.
