HEAD COACH CANDIDATES FOR THE SACRAMENTO KINGS

With the news coming out today with the Kings parting ways with Alvin Gentry, they will seek out a new head coach to help their rebuild and give the team some hope. The Kings have been roller coaster the past few seasons and could obviously just use some sustainability for once.

DAVID JOEGER

Just in 2019 the Sacramento Kings were at the 9th seed with a record of 39-43 coached by non other than David Joeger. For whatever reason he was fired and it was another big mistake Joeger made. Joeger is currently an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and with them potentially parting ways with Doc Rivers and hiring Mike Dantoni Joeger could maybe accept the Kings back. Nonetheless Joeger is a good rebuilding coach who had Sacramento closest to the playoffs they have ever been in decades.

DAVID VANTERPOOL

Former Blazers assistant coach and current assistant for the Brooklyn Nets, David Vanterpool. I would love to see Vanterpool get a head coaching job one day as he is one of the most respected coaches in the league. And when you have the players respect that goes and looks a long way. Former players he's coached for Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum went out of their way to vouch for Vanterpool when the Timberwolves chose not to hire him as the head coach. He's been successful and apart of the Blazers rebuild and making two small guards in Lillard and McCollum work in Portland. I would just love for Vanterpool to get the opportunity.

SAM CASSELL

Another coach I would love to get a first time head coach opportunity, former Clippers assistant and current 76ers Sam Cassell. Cassell is another highly respected coach amongst players and other coaches around the league. Doc Rivers has went out and said Cassell at his communication skills, making and developing relationships, and developing players. A situation like Sacramento they really need someone like Cassell. Someone to be a huge breath of fresh air in Sac Town and lead them down the correct path and back to respectability.

KENNY ATKINSON

Kenny Atkinson is one of the best rebuilding coaches in the league with one of the more memorable moments of how he changed the culture in Brooklyn. If Sacramento wants a huge culture change and a winning mindset Kenny Atkinson should be their guy. Currently an assistant with the Warriors, who are more towards a win now mode rather than rebuild at the moment. If I am the Kings front office I am having Atkinson on #1 on my list, personally.

MARK JACKSON

Another former head coach I will always root for, Mark Jackson. Jackson has been blackballed from the league for a while now, to keep it real. We've seen what he did in changing the culture in Golden State. Sacramento needs that kind of culture change and evolution. And according to Adrain Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jackson is a potential candidate to be considered. I'd love for Jackson to be back where he belongs in a head coaching position.
